Did you know?
In recent months, the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) has noticed an increase in telephone scams where the caller claims to be from the CRA but is not. Canadians should know these calls are not from the CRA and could result in identity and financial theft.
If you get such a call, hang up and report it to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre by calling 1-888-495-8501.
When the CRA calls a taxpayer, it follows established procedures to make sure the taxpayer’s personal information is protected.
If you receive a call from the CRA and want to confirm that it is legitimate, check MyAccount on the CRA’s website or call the CRA. The number for calls about individual concerns is 1-800-959-8281. The number for business-related calls is 1-800-959-5525.
